Introduction of Madam Francess Clarke Myers, National President, USAA
H. E. Madam Francess Clarke Myers, the National President of the United Sarpo Association in the Americas (USAA), is a dedicated public servant born in Monrovia. She is a mother of one. Our distinguished honoree’s mother, Mrs. Tetee Gwein, hails from Grand Gedeh County, while her late father, Hon. Johnny T. Clarke, an astute politician, comes from Sinoe County.
Our seasoned servant leader, who the members of the USAA overwhelmingly elected in 2021 during the National Convention held in Jacksonville, Florida, is a devoted Christian who currently serves in multiple capacities in her church—The Overbrook Assembly of God.
Our Causes
We provide services to help our people while promoting the Sarpo culture.
Education
We aim to strengthen the education system for sustainable development. By so doing, we expect to reduce rural poverty and improve the quality of life for people living in the region.
Food Insecurity
In Liberia, it is estimated that roughly 1.8 million people are food insecure. Among children under five years old, around 30% are stunted. We aim to reduce the number of food insecure people in the Sarpo region.
Healthcare
We understand Liberia’s weak healthcare system is riddled with inadequate equipment, medications, and skilled practitioners. Our goal is to work with local and international partners to improve healthcare in the region.
Environment Protection
The Sapo National Park remains the second largest tropical rainforest in West Africa. The area is threatened by deforestation, pollution, and the hunting of endangered species for bushmeat. Let’s solve this problem.
Economic Growth
We aim to provide scholarships, promote tourism, and drive economic growth in the region. We do this by encouraging remittances, investing in local businesses, and buying from rural farmers.
Farming
Agriculture remains the primary livelihood of more than 80 % of people in Sinoe County. USAA National plans to work with local farmers who provide household sustenance by investing in cassava, palm oil, and sugarcane production.
